Hello everyone and welcome to My Blurred World.

My name is Elin, I am 19 years old and I am a lover of music, writing and all things beauty and fashion.

I created my blog back in April 2015 with the hope of sharing my passion for beauty and fashion with the world, but there is a twist… I am in fact a vision impaired beauty and fashion lover and the aim of my blog is to raise awarness of disability in the hope of changing people’s perceptions of disabled people.

One of my passions in life is writing and I aspire to become a freelance writer in the future. I am currently a blogger/writer for My Trending Stories which is an online newspaper website filled with articles on an array of topics written by people from all walks of life.

Alongside being a blogger I am also a instagram enthusiast and have gained over 5,500 followers which is surreal to me. I love photography and i don’t let the fact that I’m vision impaired stop me from expressing this passion.

I was diagnosed with an eye condition called Retinitis Pigmentosa when I was six years of age and have since been registered blind/severely sight impaired. My vision is quite blurry and that is where the name of my blog came from as everything I see in the world is blurred therefore ‘My Blurred World’ sounded very appropriate in my opinion.

I do suffer with a number of other medical conditions, one being Chronic Fatigue Syndrome/M.E therefore I hope to raise awarness of this condition also.

I try to remain as positive as possible and don’t let my disability stop me from achieving what I want in life. Of course, growing up with sight loss has proven to be very difficult but I try to remember that I am not alone and there are thousands of other  people out there who suffer with sight loss also.

I’ve found that many people are totally oblivious to visual impairment and disability in general. I’ve had many experiences where people have judged me for my disability or have treated me differently and this has encouraged me to write about disability as it is a subject that needs to be heard of.

I want people to realise that having a disability isn’t an obstacle and that we disabled people can live our lives like anyone else (with a few adjustments of course). I’ve received many questions both on social media and in real life about how I apply make-up if I’m visually impaired and how can I take photos and read and write and how I can be fashionable and this has also inspired me to write more about disability in the hope of making people realise that I can look presentable even if I do suffer with sight loss.

I aim to write posts on my blog surrounding the topic of beauty and fashion and how I make them accessible for me as a visually impaired person, by doing this I hope to tackle the stigma surrounding sight loss. I also want my blog to be a platform for people to come together, share their stories and experiences in the hope that we can help each other. I also want it to be somewhere I can share my own experiences in the hope of educating others on subjects such as disability.

I would like to welcome you all to My Blurred World and I hope you enjoy exploring everything it has to offer.
